Reiki Healing Treatments

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that involves the transfer of universal life energy. This energy is often referred to as "qi" or "chi" - Reiki is based on the understanding that everything is composed of energy and that energy can be influenced and directed for healing purposes. whenever this energy is blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to physical or emotional ailments.

Reiki practitioners use specific hand positions and gentle touch to channel healing energy to the patient, helping to restore balance. The healing works by accessing and channeling the universal life energy that flows through all living things. The practitioner acts as a conduit for this energy and directs it to the recipient's body, mind, and spirit.

What to expect during a session:

Reiki is typically non invasive performed in a quiet and peaceful setting, where the recipient can relax and be comfortable.  The recipient usually lies down fully clothed or on a massage table under sheets, while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or near different parts of the body & chakras.

The practitioner may also use a hands-off approach, mantra symbols, aromatherapy, crystals, smudging & sound healing all depending on the recipient's preference and comfort level.

Reiki can also be performed remotely, where the practitioner channels the energy to the recipient from a distance. In remote sessions, the recipient may be in a different location, and the practitioner uses techniques to connect with their energy field and transmit Reiki energy to them.

The duration of a Reiki session can vary, but it typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. The number of sessions needed depends on the individual and their specific needs or goals for healing.

Additional Techniques Used in Sessions

Grounding:

Grounding techniques are used to establish a strong connection with the Earth's energy and remain present in the moment. This can involve visualizations, deep breathing exercises, or physically connecting with the ground by standing barefoot or sitting on the floor.

Setting Intentions:

Practitioners often set positive intentions for the session, focusing on the recipient's healing, well-being, and highest good. They may silently affirm their intention or use specific Reiki symbols and mantras to amplify

Smudging:

Smudging is a traditional practice that involves burning herbs, typically white sage or palo santo, to purify and cleanse the energy of a space. The practitioner may light the herb bundle or loose herbs and allow the smoke to waft throughout the room, focusing on corners, doorways, and areas where energy may feel stagnant or heavy. You can also expect that it may be done around the body as well to cleanse energy.

Sound Clearing:

Sound instruments such as singing bowls ,tuning forks & drumming can be used to cleanse the space. The practitioner may strike or play these instruments, allowing the vibrations and sound waves to permeate the room and clear any stagnant energy. The sound can also help create a calming and peaceful atmosphere.

Crystal Cleansing:

Placing crystals in the room can help absorb any negative or stagnant energy. The practitioner may choose to use specific crystals known for their cleansing properties, such as rose & clear quartz or selenite. Each crystal has a different healing property and a frequency that can be used to support you in specific areas of life or health. Deidre's favourite crystals are rose quartz, clear quartz and selenite. It's encouraged that you look into which crystals would best support you in your daily life.
